Dr. Kathy Obear, President, Alliance for Change Consulting and Founding Faculty of The Social Justice Training Institute (www.sjti.org), has over 25 years experience as a trainer and organization development consultant specializing in creating inclusion, team and organizational effectiveness, conflict resolution, and change management. Earlier in her career Kathy worked in Student Affairs at several universities before starting her consulting practice in 1987. She has given speeches, facilitated training sessions, and provided consultation services and coaching to top leaders at hundreds of colleges and universities designed to increase the passion, competence, and commitment to create inclusive, socially just campus environments for all members of the campus community. Some of her recent clients are Quinsigamond Community College, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, University of Minnesota-Duluth, Illinois State University, Washington University, Smith College, and Oregon State University.
In addition to consulting with colleges and universities, Dr. Obear works with human service organizations, government agencies, and corporations to create work environments that value and respect the contributions and talents of all its members. She works with the leaders and the employees of organizations to redesign work practices, team dynamics, and policies and practices to reflect the organization’s core values of inclusion, diversity, empowerment and customer service.
